Speakers at a workshop stressed ensuring efficient public procurement system to expedite the ongoing process of LDC graduation.
They said it has been very significant now-a-days from economic context of Bangladesh.
The remarks came up at the inauguration of a training program, organised by the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) titled ‘Capacity Building Training on Public Procurement: Intellectual and Professional Services’ in support with Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project of Ministry of Commerce on Sunday.
BFTI Director Md. Obaidul Azam presided over the event while Chief Executive Officer of BFTI and former senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md Zafar Uddin was present as the chief guest.
Md. Zafar Uddin said Public procurement is a very important issue in the LDC graduation and economic context of Bangladesh. There is no substitute for training to increase knowledge and gain an accurate understanding of the subject.
‘We are glad to be able to organise this training by BFTI under the initiative of Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project of the Ministry of Commerce’, he added.
A total of 26 employees from various public and private sector organisations including various ministries and departments, business associations and chambers participated in this training.
Md. Munir Chowdhury, Trade Expert of Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project moderated the event.
