Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said that it will take more time for academic activities to get back to normal.

“Omicron infection is on the rise. Therefore, the vaccination programme of students are being expanded all over the country. Everyone will be brought under the vaccination programme,” she added.

The minister made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at a function organized by Dhania College on the occasion of the golden jubilee of victory and birth centenary of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the capital on Sunday.

She said, “Our two years of experience shows that corona infections increase in March. So, we have to wait until March next year.”

She further said that a lot of work is needed to be done in the field of education.

“We are working to create an education system where students will acquire skills as well as knowledge. We must be ready for the fourth industrial revolution. Students must be proficient in information technology. If we are not skilled in ICT, the fourth industrial revolution will leave us behind,” she said.

Addressing the students, she said, “We have to be science-oriented and technology-friendly from the childhood. At the same time we must be humane. I hope, you will grow up to be skilled, competent and as good citizens.”

“We have seen people being burnt to death and conspiring in the name of politics. We have seen Bangladesh being handed over to Pakistan. How can this be politics? It is murder, not politics. Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina is leading the politics that brings positive change in the education system, employs the youths, and nurtures the culture of the country,” she said.

President of the college governing body KM Mozammel Hoque presided over the function.

President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Abu Ahmed Monnafi and President of Dhaka metropolitan’s south unit of Awami Swechchhasebak League Kamrul Hasan Ripon also spoke during this time.
