Educational institutes to remain shut until situation improves

Proper measures to continue studies must be taken

Education all over the world has moved out of the classrooms and into various devices via online. The coronavirus outbreak has rendered the education institutions closed until further notice. Whether it is schools or colleges of universities, authorities of all types of education institutions have been forced to take measures that they are not used to in order to continue dispersing knowledge.

A report published in this daily showed that the government is planning to extend the ongoing general holidays for the educational institutions until the improvement of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis happens. As the viral outbreak has already claimed the lives of thousands and affected millions, we think this is a good way to curb the transmission of coronavirus amongst the youth if classes were to resume across the country.

All educational institutions in the country have remained closed since March 17. Later on, the closure was extended till August 6 over several extensions. This has been a logical step by the government to safe guard the all important students and teachers.

Online education can create much more opportunities

for the learners as well as academics to initiate

teaching and learning processes which can be ingenious

However, it needs to be mentioned that the education process is going through a dynamic shift and everyone related has to adapt to this change. Online education can create much more opportunities for the learners as well as academics to initiate teaching and learning processes which can be ingenious and also help make the paradigm shift which the Education Minister is trying to make.

On the other hand, a system which will be able to evaluate learners in a proper manner for board exams has not been developed. This has proven to be a challenge to conduct the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations of this year. This has also entailed to critical loss of time, possible stagnation and uncertainty. Also, measures to properly evaluate these students need to be taken swiftly whether the condition improves for the better or not so that no more time is lost.
