The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested office assistant of Rangpur Sadar upazila primary education office Md. Shahidul Islam Sarkar while taking Taka 16,000 as bribe from teachers.
Local ACC officials said Assistant Director of Rangpur District Combined Office of ACC Md. Hossain Sharif conducted the operation at the Sadar upazila primary education office and arrested Shahidul Islam Sarkar with the money this afternoon.
Confirming the matter, Hossain Sharif told local reporters that Shahidul Islam Sarker had been collecting unethical benefits from teachers for a long time for various works.
"Following the written complaint of some teachers, the raid was conducted at the Sadar upazila primary education office by the directives of Deputy Director of Rangpur District Combined Office of ACC Abu Hena Ashikur Rahman," he said.
"Detained Shahidul has been taken the custody of District Primary Education Officer. Related documents have been sent to the ACC head office for approval of filing a case in this connection." he said.
