Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said that all preparations have been completed. The educational institution will be opened soon.
She was speaking at a mourning day event organized by the Awami League's sub-committee on cultural affairs at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Tuesday.
The minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave instruction at the beginning of this global crisis to work for the health of our students without compromising their education. Various methods have been adopted so that they do not lag behind in their studies.
"Hopefully, the way the infection rate is coming down is good a news. If this trend continues to decline, we will be able to open all the educational institutions soon but step by step,” she said.
She further said that because the number of students in classrooms is more than other countries, it is important to maintain social distance in this situation.
The minister added that everyone may not get a chance to attend classes six days a week from the beginning. There are overall preparations for the opening of educational institutions.
After being closed for a year and a half due to the pandemic, the doors of educational institutions are likely to open soon.
Final preparations have already been made to open primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions starting from the university. Preparations have started to make the educational institutions suitable to resume teaching.
All primary school teachers were directed to be present for this purpose on Tuesday. On the other hand, regional directors have been instructed by Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) to keep the secondary and higher secondary educational institutions open.
The directives of the Department of Primary Education include 100% school inspection by Assistant Upazila/Thana Education Officers within a week, 100% confirmation and verification of worksheet distribution, status of learning deficit and taking feedback, ensuring cleanliness at schools, regular attendance of teachers in schools, verifying student profiles, determine strategies for weaker student.
In addition, as part of the preparations for the opening of the educational institution, quick instructions have been given to fix the wash block of the primary school.
On the other hand, DSHE has directed the authorities concerned to complete the final preparations for the opening of secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions. For this, special instructions have been given to keep the educational institutions clean and tidy and to follow the orders of the government for the prevention of dengue.
On the overall issue, Director General of the Department of Primary Education Alamgir Muhammad Mansurul Alam said, “Teachers have been instructed to be present at the institution. Assistant Upazila and Thana Education Officers have been directed to inspect all the schools within a week. If any officer does not visit all the schools in the specified area, action will be taken against him. In addition, specific instructions have been given to prevent dengue.”
Professor Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, Director (Administration and College) of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, said, "I have instructed the regional directors to keep the educational institutions clean and tidy and to ensure overall readiness to open schools."
He said that the educational institutions can be fully opened as soon as it receives instructions from the higher echelons of the government. Apart from that, our educational institutions are open. Teachers are continuing to give and take regular assignments.
