The ongoing closure of all educational institutions has been extended till January 16, 2021 in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
However, the Qawmi Madrasa in the country will be out of this directive.
This information was given on Friday in a notification signed by Md Abul Khair, senior information officer of the Education Ministry.
Earlier on 16 March, the Ministry issued a press release regarding the government decision of closing all educational institutions and coaching centres from 18-31 March, considering the safety of the students amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Later, the government extended the closure several times in phases. Starting with the extension till 9 April, then came respectively 25 April, 5 May, 30 May, 6 August, 31 August, 3 October, 31 October and 14 November.
Although activities at both government and private offices were gradually restored, educational institutions have not been reopened.
Lastly, on 12 November, the education ministry extended the closure of educational institutions until December 19 due to the prolonged pandemic.
The government also canceled this year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC), Junior School Certificate (JSC), Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and their equivalent examinations to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, to reduce the losses of education, the government runs a distance-learning program through Sangsad Television for primary and secondary schools during this time. Classes are also taking place on Facebook and YouTube for school and college-level students as well. Universities have also been running online classes to finish their coursework.
