Educational institutions across Bangladesh are going on for 17-day holiday, starting from June 13 till June 29. The vacation is scheduled to coincide with both Eid-ul-Adha and the summer break. Many schools in the capital have already announced the holiday. June 30 will see a half-day of classes, with regular full-day sessions resuming from July 1 onwards. This year, the decision to merge the summer break with Eid-ul-Adha holiday stems from the need to adjust academic schedules disrupted by extended closures due to winter and summer seasons.
Professor Syed Zafar Ali, the Director of Secondary and Higher Education Department (Secondary), emphasized that while there are varied opinions regarding the timing of the summer break, for now, schools have chosen to align it with the upcoming Eid holiday. He mentioned that any further changes regarding the summer vacation schedule would be communicated later.
Heads of educational institutions highlighted the significance of synchronizing the Eid-ul-Adha holiday with the summer vacation, acknowledging the challenges posed by the recent irregularities in the academic calendar.
The decision to combine the two breaks aims to provide students and faculty members with an extended period of rest and celebration, ensuring a rejuvenating break before the commencement of regular classes in July.
Parents and students are advised to stay updated with any further announcements from their respective educational institutions regarding the holiday schedule.
