The chairmen of all education boards will sit on Thursday to decide the next course of action on Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations and other issues delayed by Covid-19 pandemic.

“The board chairmen will meet on September 24 (Thursday) to discuss the HSC examination, admission to class XI and starting the class and some specific proposals will be made,” Chairman of Rajshahi education board Prof Mokbul Hossain told Bangladesh Post.

The proposals will be forwarded to the Ministry of Education for finalization, he added.

Since the coronavirus broke out by the first of this March 8, the government closed all education institutions on March 17 and extended the holidays till October 3 in phases.

Meanwhile, nearly 1.2 million students are passing days in uncertainty after the HSC and equivalent examinations were postponed, which were scheduled to begin on April 1.

Education boards said new routine for the examinations would be announced.

“The new routine will be announced at least 15 days prior to the examination to help both examinees and teachers prepare for it,” Prof Mokbul told Bangladesh Post earlier.

No new schedule would be announced until educational institutions reopens, he added.
