Economics, politics are two sides of the coin: FBCCI chief

The president of FBCCI Sheikh Fazle Fahim on Sunday said Politics and economics are two sides of the same coin.

He said the benefits of PM Sheikh Hasina’s political-economic plan of ‘Vision 2021 2041’ are clearly visible. 

He was addressing a gathering after placing floral wreaths on the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmandi-32 along with Siddiqur Rahman, the current Vice-President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) on the occasion of Siddiqur’s appointment as Awami League (AL) Industry and Commerce Secretary.

Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, former FBCCI President; MP, Abdus Salam Murshedy; MP Md. Siddiqur Rahman; Md. Rejaul Kariem Rejnu Vice President of FBCCI; Md. Kohinoor Islam, Mohammad Anwar Sadat Sarker, Tabarakul Tosaddek Hossain Khan Tito; and Mehdi Ali Director of FBCCI were also present during the occasion.

 Md Siddiqur Rahman being an experienced entrepreneur contributed to our society through his economic endeavors by enabling job creation, revenue, multiplier effects while serving in different capacities for garments sectoral trade facilitation, and much more.”

“Being the Vice President of the apex trade body of our country FBCCI, whose mandate entails trade facilitation of CMSMEs and other major sectors of the economy, complementing the government’s 8th five-year plan, PM’s Vision 2021, 2041, LDC 2023, SDG 2030, engaging domestic and international stakeholders, diversifying the economy, enabling ease of doing business and others; Siddiqur Rahman’s new responsibility is welcoming news for FBCCI’s vis a vis business community of Bangladesh. His new responsibility will assist to consolidate multi-stakeholder engagements and pave a way forward for our national political-economic goals,” he added.

During the occasion, the FBCCI president underscoring the importance of the youth demographic indulging in politics further stated, “AL is the oldest party of our country that has representation from all professions. Younger generation should be building their career with responsibility and ethics to contribute in politics in the future, irrespective of their professional industries.”

Siddiqur Rahman, the VP of FBCCI expressing his gratitude for the new responsibility and condolence towards the martyrs of August 15 said, “Building on my previous experience I will work with government officials political leaderships, private sectors, and relevant stakeholders to serve inline with Bangladesh’s developing nation goals.”
