Economic landscape to change after big projects are executed

Highlighting the socio-economic picture of the post-independence period, speakers at an independence day celebration program on Friday said the development picture of the country's economy would change completely if big projects like Payra Power Station and big economic zones become visible.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) organized the program to celebrated 26 March, Independence Day and Golden Jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh.

Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, Bir Muktijoddha, Bir Bikram; Dr. Atiur Rahman, Professor (Honorary), Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka and former Governor, Bangladesh Bank and AAMS Arefin Siddique, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka took part in the discussion.

Ajit Kumar Sarkar, eminent journalist and researcher presented the keynote address on 'Bangabandhu in the Direction of Independence and Liberation'.

Connecting through Online zoom Dr. Atiur Rahman said , today’s development of Bangladesh is not achieved in a day, it is the result of inch by inch of hard work of people of the country. Bangabandhu was the inspiration of their hard work. 

In his deliberation, ICAB President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA recalled the political struggle of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his great contribution to the independence of Bangladesh. 

He said, we got the red and green flag under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  

He also said, his very deserving daughter and visionary leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to take the country to the superhighway of development, achieving sustainable development goals to build the dreamed “Sonar Bangla”.

Among others spoke on the occasion, ICAB Vice President Md. Abdul Kader Joaddar FCA, Council Members Md. Moniruzzaman FCA, Mohammed Forkan Uddin FCA,ICAB  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shubhashish Bose  and Secretary, Dhaka Regional Committee Hasib Swadaghar  FCA.
