Election Commissioner Brig General (Retd) Md Ahsan Habib Khan on Wednesday said the Election Commission is working tirelessly to present a free, fair and festive upazila election across the country.
“Election related government officials including the law enforcement agencies have assured to follow all the directions of the EC during the upazila election,” he made the remarks while briefing the media at Khulna Shilpokola Academy in Khulna after exchanging views with the election related government officials and law enforcement agencies ahead of the upcoming upazila election-2024.
The Election Commissioner Ahsan Habib also said the EC has taken decision for holding the upcoming upazila election phase by phase.
“None can make any kind of obstruct during the filing nomination papers to the official concerned as aspirant candidate can submit their nomination papers through online,” he said.
He, however, said the journalists will get opportunity to collect and publish election reports independently following the rules of the EC.
Earlier, a view exchange meeting was held at the Shilpokola Academy auditorium with Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.
Organised by the Commissioner office of Khulna division, DIG of Khulna Range Md Moinul Haque, Additional Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Sarder Rakibul Islam, Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police of the division, among others, were present.
