The Election Commission (EC) is set to record Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin's address on Wednesday.
"The CEC is now holding discussions with the election commissioners to decide when the schedule will be announced. Once the decision is finalised, I will inform you," Senior Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said while speaking to reporters at the Election Commission building in Agargaon in the afternoon.
Earlier in the day, the EC briefed President Mohammed Shahabuddin on preparations for holding the 13th national parliamentary election and the referendum on the same day.
The CEC and the four commissioners met the president at Bangabhaban around 12:30pm.
According to the EC secretary, the president sought detailed explanations on arrangements for holding two votes on the same day -- the national election and the referendum -- including ballot designs, mock voting experiences and vote counting procedures.
"After being briefed, the president expressed satisfaction," he added.
When asked about the exact timing of the schedule announcement, the EC secretary reiterated that the decision would be taken collectively by the commission.
He said journalists would be updated within the next one or two hours once a decision was reached.
