The Election Commission is set to observe the National Voters’ Day today.
On the occasion, President M Abdul Hamid issued a message wishing a success of the day and hoping that this programme would create awareness among the people to exercise their voting rights.
Terming observance of the day is a time-befitting decision of the government, the head of the state said the basic foundation of the democratic culture and development remain hidden in the day’s theme -“If you are 18s-Don’t be late to be a voter.” Appreciating the role of the EC, the president said the EC is significantly responsible to hold elections in every phases, including local government and the national elections of the country.
President Hamid also thanked all concerned of the Election Commission for their database initiatives and introducing the National Identity Cards (NIDs), which is helping to scrutinize the genuine citizens of the country.
