The Election Commission (EC) on Thursday filed a case against Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon, independent MP from Faridpur-4 constituency, for violating the Electoral Code of Conduct, reports BSS.
“Returning Officer Nawabul Islam lodged a case against Nixon Chowdhury for violating electoral code of conduct,” Nazneen Khanam, officer-in-charge of Faridpur Charbhadrasan police station, told BSS.
Independent MP Nixon Chowdhury was accused of violating the code of conduct in the Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad by-poll in Faridpur district on October 10.
On Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda told the newsmen that legal action would be taken against Nixon Chowdhury after meeting with law enforcement bodies on the Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-17 by-polls.
