The Election Commission (EC) has ordered transfer of officers-in-charge (OCs) of all the police stations across the country to holding of the upcoming parliamentary elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
The EC in a letter sent on Thursday to the Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs said they have decided to transfer the officers-in-charge (OCs) of all the police stations in phases for smooth holding of the national polls.
In the first phase, the OCs, who have completed more than six months of service at their present workplace, the home ministry should send their transfer proposal to the EC by December 5. In the letter, the EC also sought action in this regard.
According to the EC’s poll schedule, the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections will be held on January 7, 2024. The last date for submission of nomination papers was Thursday (November 30), the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held from December 1 to 4, filing of appeals against any decision of the returning officer with the EC and their disposal will continue from December 5 to 15, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 17.
