Journalists have got permission to use motorcycles under certain conditions on the day of national election to cover election news.
The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday withdrew the directive that barred journalists from using motorcycles on the national election day.
According to the amended policy, journalists will be able to use a limited number of motorcycles under certain conditions.
According to the EC, the conditions for motorcycle users are standard, such as having a driving licence, motorcycle registration and other related documents.
According to the new policy, journalists who cover the elections can use motorcycles on election day by obtaining permission from the returning officer of the respective constituency or the public relations department of the secretariat three days before the polling day.
However, none will be allowed to broadcast news on social media, including Facebook, live from the polling booth. There are some other rules to be followed by the journalists. Otherwise, actions will be taken against the journalists or institutions concerned according to the election laws and rules.
