The sixth convocation of Eastern University (EU) was held on its permanent campus in Savar on Saturday. A total of 2,972 students were given certificates in the ceremony. Two students were given Chancellor’s Gold Medal award and seven students were given Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal award.
Barrister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister for Education, presided over the ceremony on behalf of President Abdul Hamid, while JoAnne Wagner, charge d’ affaires of United States Embassy in Dhaka graced the occasion as the convocation speaker. In his speech, Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury advised the students to be good citizens. He said that all universities must maintain quality in imparting education. He argued the students to take leadership in different sectors of the nation to expedite the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Prof Dr. Shahid Akhter Hossain, vice chancellor of Eastern University, Prof Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and, Mr.Liaquat Hossain Moghul, Board of Trustees chairman of Eastern University, and Prof Tahmina Ahmed , Dean of Arts faculty of the university also spoke on the occasion, among other.
