Each of the 72 ward councillors of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has been allocated Taka 1 lakh for the distribution of health care equipment among the residents of their respective areas.
The money has been allocated from the government fund in advance for the ward councilors through DNCC executives for the distribution of masks, hand sanitizers, liquid hand washes and soaps as health protection equipment among the residents of the wards.
The decision was taken recently. An office order was signed by DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Jobaidur Rahman in this connection.
In the office order, it has been mentioned that Tk. 3 lakhs was allocated in three of the general and reserved wards in Zone-1 of DNCC, 11 lakh in 11 wards in general and reserved in Zone-2. Further, 13 lakh taka in 13 wards in Zone-3, 9 lakh taka in 9 wards in Zone-4, 12 lakh taka in 12 wards in Zone-5, 6 lakh taka in 6 wards in Zone-6, 5 lakh taka in 5 wards in Zone-6, 4 lakh taka in 4 wards in Zone-7, 4 lakh taka in 4 wards in Zone-9 and 5 lakh taka in 5 wards in Zone-10 was allocated.
The office order further said that the money allocated should only be spent for the distribution of free health care materials. Regional executives will purchase the same quality and the same amount of health care equipment for everyone in consultation with ward councilors.
