The government on Thursday adopted a scheme titled “Land Registration Management Digitisation Feasibility Test Project” to implement e-registration of lands.

We think the project will expedite and streamline the land management system like land registration, record keeping, indexing and other related works digitally. Software will replace handwritten copies of the marathon records and deeds of the lands once the project is implemented.

Initially, 17 sub-registry offices from different parts of the country have been brought under the digital land registration project. We think it is a time-befitting project and digital registration will simplify verification of ownership of a land, its mutation and other relevant issues.

other relevant issues

Besides, forgery relating to transfer of land, ownership, registration and mutation and lawsuits will decrease as a result of digital registration. Therefore, the mutation process of land will be done automatically right after its registration by removing complexities and thus reducing the sufferings of people.

Once the project is properly implemented, the number of land-related disputes and other incidents will be reduced significantly along with the decrease in the influence of middlemen. The AC Land offices will also know about the registration of a land automatically through the software.

Besides, the AC Land office will get one manual copy of a land document following its registration. Therefore, it will take only a few days for the AC (Land) to complete the mutation of a land after registration.

Now the software of record of rights is effective for the sale and buying of lands only, but the software has a feature to keep the record of inherited properties in the future.

We also believe the government will introduce the new system throughout the country within a short time.
