Idol artisans in Chitalmari passing busy time

Idol artisans are spending busy time in Chitalmari ahead of Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community.

In the mandaps (temples) of Chitalmari, the artisans are very busy at the last minute in finishing the work of idol making. Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community, will begin on October 11 this year with the Sashthi puja.  

As a result, they have already started working day and night to finish most of the idols and build the main structure.  Now the idol artists are busy in making the idols beautiful with the help of skillful brush strokes.

As the Corona situation has returned to normal and there is no lockdown, this year's Durga Puja is expected to be celebrated with great fervor & enthusiasm.

Visiting the spots, it was seen that the work of making idols is going on in the skillful hands of idol artists.  The artisans have beautifully mixed the beauty of mind and made goddess Durga beautiful.  

They are trying their best to decorate goddess Durga, said many sculptors.  Also festive mood is prevailing everywhere of Chitalmari to celebrate the biggest religious festival this year.  The excitement, this time, has got new dimension as fear of pandemic is nearly over.

The shopping festival is also going on with that.  Already, the joy of Autumnal Durga is flooding everywhere in Chitalmari.  Along with this, the last minute work of the artists is going on in the full swing in the Puja Mandaps of Chitalmari.

It's learnt from the upazila administration & Puja Udjapon Parishad that this year the Durgotsab (celebration of Durga Puja) will be celebrated in 153 puja mandaps in Chitalmari.
