The Bangladesh Coast Guard has reinforced security measures to protect public lives and property in coastal regions of Khulna, Bagerhat, and Satkhira during the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.

On Wednesday, Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Coast Guard Media Officer, stated that the force has consistently played a vital role in maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of religious sites, key establishments, and the general public in coastal areas since its inception.

As part of its continued efforts, the Coast Guard’s Western Zone is currently working to ensure comprehensive security at 44 puja mandaps across Rupsha, Koyra, and Dacope in Khulna; Mongla, Sharankhola, and Morrelganj in Bagerhat; and Shyamnagar in Satkhira.

The Coast Guard remains on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents or acts of sabotage during the festivities. Public awareness campaigns are also being conducted, advising people not to overcrowd boats, wear life jackets at all times, and avoid boarding boats without swimming skills.

Special diving teams are on standby to respond to emergencies like boat capsizes during idol immersions.

For any urgent assistance at puja mandaps, the public is encouraged to call the Coast Guard emergency hotline 16111. The Coast Guard aims to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration for the Hindu community.
