Duo makes fake Phensedyl!

Police have busted a banned phensedyl syrup re-producing factory in the city. Talking to Bangladesh Post on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB- West) Md Hannanul Islam confirmed the matter. Two members of the drug gang were arrested from city’s Hatirjheel area on Monday night.

They have been identified as Md Biplob Hossain alias Rubel, son of Md Toybur Rahman and Md Faruque Hossain, son of late Firoz Uddin, both hailing from Dinajpur district. Detectives came to know that prime accused Biplob first smuggles Phensedyl from India. After bringing the Phensedyl bottles to his secret den, he reproduces fake Phensedyl after mixing some chemicals.

He admitted that he had been reproducing Phensedyl since several years and earned huge amounts of money within a very short time. From one bottle of original Phensedyl, Biplob was reproducing at least three bottles of fake Phensedyl. At present, drug users buy a bottle of Phensedyl at Tk 2,000. But the dealer buys at Tk 400 in the bordering districts.

Biplob admitted that he once supplied original Phensedyl. But due to the drives against all types drugs, sometimes Phensedyl goes out of market. Considering the situation, he decided to reproduce Indian Phensedyl at his home from the original Phensedyl. He also admitted that he cashed-in on huge amounts of illegal money from the drug business within a very short time.

He was very poor only a few months ago. Now he owns a luxurious private car. He was using the car for carrying and distributing Phensedyl. The DB team also seized the car. AC Hannan said, “We seized only two hundred bottles of Phensedyl. But, we seized a huge quantity of un-bolted Phensedyl from their possession, which clearly indicates that the accused were re-producing the drug inside Bangladesh.”

Responding to a question, the DB officer said, “We seized fifty intake corks of Phensedyl bottles. In every cork, it was written ‘Phensedyl’. AC Hannan said the arrested were produced before a Dhaka Court with a plea of five days remand for each.Earlier, a case was filed with Hatirjheel Police Station against the arrested persons and the driver who managed to escape.

According to the sources, Biplob has two counterfeit Phensedyl factories in the city. These two factories were rented by his two wives. Police are hopeful to get the detailed addresses of the counterfeit Phensedyl factories owned by Biplob and his gang. Biplob disclosed that he is a Yaba addict. He started smuggling Phensedyl only to collect money for Yaba tablets.
