Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman expressed his deepest condolences over the demise of prominent columnist, journalist, writer and researcher Syed Abul Maksud.
In a condolence message on Wednesday, the VC said, “Syed Abul Maksud was a researcher and front-liner in social movements who had liberal, humanitarian and progressive thoughts.
He wrote opinions and columns on contemporary issues of society, culture, economy and politics. Moreover, he produced research-based essays on prominent literary and political figures”. The VC prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy for the bereaved family. Syed Abul Maksud died in a Dhaka hospital at the age of 75 on Tuesday evening.
