The department of soil, water, and environment of Dhaka University (DU) celebrated its 70th anniversary on Monday at the Nawab Nabab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the University.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the festival as the chief guest. The Curzon Hall Environment Club organized the event.
Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment Md Khalilur Rahman chaired the inaugural ceremony. Emeritus Professor at Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Austria Winfried Eric Hubert Blum was the special guest. Former VC Professor of Dhaka University SMA Faiz, Professor Syed Fazle Elahi, Professor AHM Mustafizur Rahman also spoke at the event.
Professor Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the organizers, saying that soil, water and environment department students should play a responsible role in establishing human values and protecting the environment in the society.
