Dhaka University celebrated ‘Flag Hoist Day’ on 02 March 2022 at historical Bottola on campus premises.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman during the programme said, “ The father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman played an important role in our history’s every aspect, every steps and every incident. He was the successful leader and the main supplier of all the backgrounds and elements required for independence, including social and political. Bangabandhu directed the construction and hoisting of the flag at Dhaka University through his far-sighted plan. This was one of the timely steps taken by Bangabandhu to establish an independent nation-state. Bangabandhu has planned and successfully implemented all the movements including the language movement and the great liberation war centered on this Dhaka University.
That is why Bangabandhu and Dhaka University are tied in the same thread.” the Vice-Chancellor said that such events would continue to present the history of all our glorious movements and achievements including the background of flag hoisting and great freedom to the young generation.
Pro Vice- Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Samad presided over the function where Pro Vice Chancellor ( Education) Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal preset as a special guest and other faculty’s teachers were also present at the occasion.
Pro Vice Chancellor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal said, “ Flag hoist was not a sudden incident, it was a part of our liberation struggle and Bangabandhu initiated this glorious act to hint the independence of our country.” Marking the Flag Hoist Day, songs and dance was performed by DU students.
