DU invites applications for PhD prog

Dhaka University (DU) has invited applications for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme for the July-December term of the 2025-26 academic session. The application form can be downloaded from the university website (https://du.ac.bd). Duly filled-in forms must be submitted to the respective department chairperson or institute director’s office.

Along with the application form, candidates must submit the original copy of the deposit slip of Tk 1,000 paid at Janata Bank, TSC Branch, photocopies of all academic transcripts, and one recently taken passport-size photograph attested by the respective supervisor, department chairperson, or institute director. Additionally, applicants must submit a research proposal (synopsis) with the application.

In case of a foreign degree, applicants must obtain equivalence approval before submitting the application.

If any information is concealed or found to be false, the admission will be considered cancelled. To be eligible for admission to the PhD programme, a candidate must have an MPhil degree, or a four-year bachelor’s (honours) and one-year master’s degree from a public university, or a three-year bachelor’s (honours) and one-year master’s degree.

Applicants must have at least a second class or 50 percent marks in all academic examinations. According to the CGPA system, candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from secondary to bachelor’s and master’s level exams.

Applicants must have at least two research articles published in recognized journals. For candidates from the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Business Studies, at least one research publication must be authored individually.

Candidates with a three-year bachelor’s and one-year master’s degree must have at least two years of teaching experience at a recognized educational institution, or two years of research experience at a recognized research organization, or two years of job experience at any government, non-government, autonomous, or semi-autonomous institution.
