DU Innovation Fair unveils 100 Ideas and Products

On Monday, 100 new concepts and products were showcased during a day-long innovation festival at Dhaka University's Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.

According to a news release released by the university's Public Relations Office, 40 of them were creative product concepts and 60 were for service innovation. 

The presentations included an automation and tabulation system, a mobile app for ensuring security, eradicating the university's transportation issues and a bus tracking system, producing jute-based goods using smart technology, simple methods for diagnosing diseases, sustainable methods for preventing environmental and water pollution, and improving leather quality using enzymes, among other things.

Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, the university's vice-chancellor, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, with pro-vice chancellor (Admin) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, pro-vice chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, and treasurer Professor Dr. Momtaz Uddin Ahmed serving as guests of honor.

Dr. Maksud Kamal stated in his address that efforts have been made to strengthen the industry-academia partnership with the goal of exploiting Dhaka University's inventions for public welfare. A start-up studio will be built shortly at the institution to improve creative goods and services for researchers."

He noted that the institution has introduced the Crowd Financing System, which allows it to raise funding from its alumni for 'Start-Up' projects. 

Manjur Mahmud, president of Datasoft Systems Bangladesh, delivered the key note essay 'Funding Innovation: How, What, and Why of Successful Cases?'.

Professor Dr. Ishtiaque M. Syed, convener of the Dhaka University Innovation Team, delivered the welcoming address. Md. Rashedur Rahman, an associate professor at the university's Organization Strategy and Leadership Department, held the inauguration event.
