A Grant Contract between Dhaka University (DU) and Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh was signed at DU Treasurer Office on Sunday. DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki signed the Contract on behalf of their respective side.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present as chief guest on this occasion.
Cultural Representative of Japan Embassy Megumi Shimizu, DU Registrar Prabir Kumar Sarker, Director of DU Institute of Modern Languages (IML) Prof. Dr. ABM Razaul Karim Faquire, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ansarul Alam and Dr. Md. Monir Uddin of IML were also present. According to the Grant Contract, Embassy of Japan will donate USD 89,143 (Eighty nine thousand one hundred and forty three) for development of the Japanese Language and Culture Program and Courses, construction of Classrooms and Teachers’ Rooms of the Institute of Modern Languages of DU.
DU VC Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki for providing financial support to DU Institute of Modern Languages.
He said that teachers and students of IML would be highly benefitted by this financial assistance of Japan.
