The Faculty of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Dhaka celebrated academic excellence on August 28, presenting Dean's Awards to faculty members who have made remarkable contributions to research in their fields.
The ceremony took place at the historic Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the university.
Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by distinguished university officials including Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), and Professor Dr. M Zahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer.
Among the awardees, Professor Dr. Jobaer Alam received special recognition for his research excellence and outstanding achievement in publishing an article on nutrient and heavy metal dynamics in the coastal waters of St. Martin's Island in the Bay of Bengal. His groundbreaking research contributes significantly to understanding marine environmental challenges in Bangladesh's coastal ecosystem.
The awards ceremony underscores the university's commitment to promoting research excellence and recognizing faculty members who contribute to advancing knowledge in earth and environmental sciences. The recognition of Q1 journal publications particularly highlights the faculty's growing international research impact.
The event reinforced the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Science's position as a leading center for environmental research in Bangladesh, with faculty members conducting vital research on regional environmental challenges and sustainable development.
