DU halls reopen after 18 months

Dhaka University students welcome backed to residential halls on Tuesday after 18 months in a festive, peaceful and orderly manner. 

The students of honours fourth year and Masters, who had at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine, moved their respective halls showing identity card and vaccine card from 9 am.

The hall authorities were seen to welcome students with flowers, facemask, hand sanitizer and chocolates.

Banners containing the rules were seen hung in front of the halls. Sinks were also installed with soaps for students to wash hands before entering.

Jahedul Islam, a master’s student of Marketing and residential student of Salimullah Muslim Hall told the Bangladesh Post, “I feel great after coming back to my second home after 18 months later.” 

He thanked the hall authorities for beautiful arrangement.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman visited Bijoy Ekattor Hall and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall.

After visiting the halls, the VC expressed satisfaction over the arrangements of reception of the hall administration in pleasant atmospheres.

The vice-chancellor urged the students to follow proper hygiene rules and regulations to deal with corona virus.

"Students of all years will be picked up and physical classes will be started by bringing them under 100% vaccination," added the VC.
