Times Higher Education, UK-based education magazine, has published the list of the best educational institutions in the world on their official website on last Thursday.
Dhaka University (DU) has ranked between 801 and 1000 in the list of the best universities in the world . The position of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in the list published is between 1001 to 1200 and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is now 200 steps behind the list after 1200.
After five years, the country has taken place in the list of the best one thousand universities.
The ranking is based on the evaluation of 1,661universities in the world based on teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.
The University of Oxford tops the rankings for the fifth consecutive year, while mainland China’s Tsinghua University becomes the first Asian university to break into the top 20 under the current methodology. California Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Stamford University and Cambridge University stand among top five.
Earlier in 2016, DU's position in this ranking was between 601 to 800.
