Stock market reaches a new height, as the market capitalisation of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) hit a highest ever level of Tk 556,370 crore on Monday.

Besides, stocks expanded the rally as all three indices of the DSE also set at new highs.

Market experts said stocks continued to making a new record after breaking the previous one as investors are injecting fresh funds in stock market amid the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic as they hope that the index would rise further after the Bangladesh Bank unveiled another expansionary monetary policy.

They said the market witnessed a rise in the last several weeks due to lower returns from the money market and extended credit facilities.

On the other hand, the news of regulatory approval to the first board of governors of the much-expected Capital Market Stabilisation Fund (CMSF) boosted their confidence, they added.

They mentioned that many market-supportive measures including removal of the floor price restriction from all listed securities, lower returns from the money market, budgetary measures and several regulatory reforms to build a vibrant capital market has kept the market afloat.

However, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, rose by 20.18 points or 0.29 percent to settle at 6,862 that is the highest since its inception more than eight years back on January 27, 2013.
