DSCC launches year-round mosquito control programme

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh inaugurated ‘Year-round integrated mosquito control management programme’ on Sunday.

“The usual activities of killing mosquitos have been rearranged. The new work plan will be implemented simultaneously in 75 wards of the city corporation,” he said while unveiling the progamme at Lalbagh Nawabganj Park in DSCC’s Ward no 23.
Eight workers will spray larvicide from 9 am to 1:00 pm in each ward daily in addition to 10 workers conducting the fogging activities from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Ward councillors will be directly involved in these activities.
“Cleaning of water bodies and sewerage will start from June 14,” said Taposh adding farming Tilapia fish and duck initiatives would be taken to prevent the breeding if of mosquito larva.

The mayor urged the city dwellers to inform health officials or ward councillors if the former find any irregularities in mosquito control activities.

Even anyone can get into touch with him on the matter, Tapos assured.
Steps would be taken by formulating a long-term plan in line with urban planners and experts’ recommendation to make Dhaka city better, he added.

Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Mohammad Selim, DSCC Chief Executive Officer Shah Mohammad Imdadul Haque, and Awami League’s Dhaka city south unit Abu Ahmed Mannafi, among others, were present on the occasion.
