Drugs, smuggled goods worth over Tk 5.7 million seized at Chuadanga border

In a series of successful operations over five days, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized illegal drugs and smuggled goods worth Tk 5,771,200 along the Chuadanga border.

In a press release issued on Sunday, Assistant Director of Chuadanga-6 BGB Battalion, Haidar Ali, stated that between 27 and 31 August, BGB conducted regular patrols and intelligence-led operations in areas including Darshana International Check Post, Darshana, Sultanpur, Boroboldia, and Thakurpur BOP.

Special task force raids were also carried out during this period, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of contraband. The confiscated items include 19 bottles of Indian liquor, 67 bottles of Phensedyl, 3 kg of Indian cannabis, 3,000 Tapentadol tablets, 21 Indian sarees, 12 salwar kameez sets, 202 assorted Indian cosmetics, 200 Chinese fishing nets (duari jaal), 500 kg of Chinese current nets, 180 kg of Indian onions, and various other illegal Indian food products.

The BGB official added that surveillance has been intensified across the Chuadanga and Meherpur border regions to combat long-standing drug and smuggling networks operating in the area.
