A drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with cops in Sylhet on Sunday, August 2 at 3:40pm.
The gun battle took place at at Azogram of Sultanpur Union under Zakiganj upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Munna Ahmed (35).
Munna was a drug dealer. He had 12 cases filed against him including charges of drug, Mir Md Abu Naser, Officer-in-Charge of Zakiganj Police Station, said to the media.
He said, Munna was detained on August 2. On Sunday, afternoon, police force raided a drug den taking Munna along with them. At one point, drug dealers opened fire on cops. The police force also opened fire in self-defense. Munna Ahmed was shot dead when he tried to escape. 7-8 cops were heavily injured.
Dead body was sent to morgue after taking it from hospital under their custody, Mir Md Abu Naser added.
