Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an anti-crime drive arrested an alleged top-listed drug peddler with 650 grams of heroin in the district last midnight.
The arestee was identified as Rashida Khatun, 58, daughter of late Shakhawat Hossain of Harishankerpur village under Godagari upazila in the district, the RAB sources said this noon.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid on her residence around 11:30 pm and nabbed her. The team recovered the contraband heroin after searching the house vigorously, said Commanding Officer of RAB-5 Lt Col Munim Ferdous.
Another team of the elite force conducted a raid at Helalpur area under Bagha upazila of the district and arrested an alleged firearm-trader with a foreign made pistol, one magazine and two bullets red-handed last night.
The detained person has been identified as Azibul Haque, 35, son of Zonab Ali of Jamira village under Belpukur Police Station in Rajshahi metropolis.
Two separate cases were recorded with the respective police stations in these connections and the arrested persons along with the seized goods were handed over to the police.
