Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained a drug peddler along with 144 bottles of foreign liquor at Chunnupara area under Raipur union of Anwara upazila in Chattogram in the early hours of Sunday. The detainee was identified as Abdul Jalil, 41, son of Hasu Mia of Dudhkumra village under Boalia union of Anwara upazila. He is a drug peddler.
On information, a team of Bangladesh Coast Guard from BCG Station Sangu carried out a special drive at the area and detained the man with foreign liquor. At the time, a CNG-run auto rickshaw, which was being used for smuggling of liquor, was also seized from the spot.
Media officer of east zone of Bangladesh Coast Guard Lt Shah Zia confirmed the matter. He said that drug trader Abdul Jalil has been involved in drug trade for long. He along with the seized liquor and the CNG-run auto rickshaw was handed over to Anwara Police Station.
