Drug dealer killed in N’ganj ‘crossfire’

A suspected drug dealer was killed in an encounter with police in Sadar Upazila of Narayanganj early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Biplob, 31, hailed from Chadmari area in the upazila.

Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch of police in Narayanganj Quamrul Islam said acting on a tip-off, a DB team conducted a drive in Chadmari area around 2:30am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back in self-defence which triggered a gunfight.

Biplob was caught in the line of crossfire while his accomplices managed to flee the scene, the official said.

Two policemen were also injured in the gunfight.

He was accused in 14 cases under Narcotics Control Act.
