Police arrested a drug dealer with 19-kg of cannabis plant from Santhia upazila in Pabna on Sunday night.
The detainee was identified as Shahadat Hossain, 32, son of AH Gafur of Durgapur village under Ataikula police station of the upazila.
A policeman of Ataikula police station said that for a long time, Shahdat had been selling illicit drug cannabis planting the trees at his home. He was detained during a special operation while the cannabis plant was recovered from him.
Kamrul Islam, newly-appointed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ataikula police station, said that drug dealer Shahadat Hossain was detained as part of a special operation to crack down on drugs, child marriage and gambling.
A case has been filed against him under narcotics law with the police station in this regard, said the OC.
