A Mahendra driver lost his life as he was driving a Mahendra at a high speed while chased by the police, the driver lost his control and the Mahendra overturned at Patkalghata near Harun-or Rashid College on Monday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Samad Morol, son of Asiruddin Morol hailed from Nagarghata Union under Patkelghata Police Station.
His death brought shadow of grief in the area. Relatives of the deceased said that Samad died after being chased by ASI Mahmud of Chuknagar Highway outpost. According to relatives, ASI Mahmud was looking for extortion from Mahendra driver on Monday morning. At that time, ASI Mahmud chased the Mahendra driver. But Samad Morol died while he lost controll of the Mahendra.
General Secretary of Mahendra Driver Committee Rajib Biswas said ASI Mahnud was demanding extortion from the drivers for a long time. As Samad did not give extortion, he was chased by ASI and, as a result, he died a tragic death. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dunuria Police Station said he does not know about the killing incident.
