Driver, aide jailed

A mobile court has sentenced two people including a bus driver to one month imprisonment for trying to secretly transport passengers to Dhaka defying the ban on public transport in Thakurgaon on Friday evening.

A bus of Moumita Paribahan was detained while leaving for Dhaka  secretly collecting passengers at Tetultala area on Dhaka Thakur­gaon Highway in Thakurgaon. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magist­rate Md. Abdullah Al Mamun detained the bus and those two people with the help of Sadar Police Station men.

The arrested are bus driver Md Abdullah, 28, son of Abul Kalam Azad of Jagannathpur village of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila and Md. Parvez, 27, son of Kamal Hossain of the same village. During this time the passengers fled. Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tanvirul Islam was present at the time. The government has banned public transport due to the corona virus spread in the country.
