Drive to clean Pransayer canal launched in Satkhira

A canal cleanliness and eviction drive to clean the Pransayer canal that flows through the heart of Satkhira city, as well as to evict the illegal structures that were built on both sides of the canal, was launched in Satkhira on Friday on the occasion of National Youth Day.

Deputy Commissioner of Satkhira, Mostak Ahmed, launched the drive at Boro Bridge area on Friday.

Deputy Director of Local Government (Deputy Secretary) Masruba Ferdous, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bishnupada Pal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sheikh Moinul Islam Moin, Executive Engineer of Satkhira Water Development Board-1 Md Salauddin were also present at that time.

Deputy Commissioner Mostak Ahmed said we have adopted an action plan. We will give special focus on evicting structures on both sides of the canal in the urban area. After that, we will work towards making it visually appealing. If excavation is needed, we will excavate. If eviction is necessary, we will evict. And if removal is required, we will remove.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Satkhira Md Aminur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shoaib Ahmed, Executive Officer of Satkhira municipality Ishtiak Ahmed, convener of district BNP Syed Iftekhar, Ameer of district Jamaat-e-Islam Muhaddis Abul Bashar, secretary of district Jamaat-e-Islam Maolana Azizur Rahman, along with representatives of various political parties, NGO representatives, student representatives, representatives of various social organizations, journalists of print and electronic medias were also present at that time.
