On the occasion of Shardiyo Durgotsab theatre group Shonglap has arranged a ‘Shardiyo Nattyashondhya’ on the occasion of Durga Puja. The evening has been arraged at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Experimental Theater at 7pm with the aim to promote communal harmony among the people of Bangladesh. This will be the 26th production for theater group Shonglap.
Swapan Das has made the theatrical version based on a story by Munshi Premchand and it will be directed by Mostafa Hira. The play stars Md Habibur Rahman, Mainul Islam, Tamanna Meher Poppy, Shakil Ahmed and Masud Alam Babu.
The play’s costume planning has been done by Chitthi Habib and Selina Akhter Priya, choreography by Robin Basak, stage and lighting planning by Palash Hendry Sen, lighting projection and music conducting by Selina Akhter Priya and Walid Ahmed Chowdhury.
The play revolves around the struggle of father-son (Ghisu and Medho) to survive. Hunger has made them inhuman, selfish animals. There is no space for relationships to grow in their fight to survival. There is a scene in the drama which shows father and son fighting over boiled potatoes.
Ghisu angers his son Medho by snatching food from his pregnant wife. Medho also acts like an animal and steals food from his own wife.
