Dr. Moulana Mohammad Maksudur Rahman, a noted scholar and researcher, received his Ph.D. certificate from the Chief Adviser to the Government of Bangladesh and Nobel Peace Laureate, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The prestigious recognition was handed over during the 5th convocation of the University of Chittagong, attended by more than 23,000 graduates — making it one of the largest convocations in the university’s history.

Dr. Maksudur Rahman was among the few Ph.D. awardees to be personally presented with the certificate by Dr. Yunus. This honour marked a significant milestone in his long dedication to academic excellence, research, and community service.

He completed his doctoral research at the Department of Islamic Studies on the topic ‘Maulana Abdul Hai: An Erudite Jurist and Saint’. Earlier, he finished his M.Phil. on ‘Hazrat Ashraf Jahangir Simnani (R.A.) and His Notable Encounters in Sultanat-i-Bangalah: Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif - A Case Study’. Throughout his academic journey, he secured top positions in all exams — Dakhil, Alim, Fazil (Bachelor), and Kamil (Masters) — in Islamic Studies, Hadith, Tafsirul Quran, and Theology. He also secured First Class First in both B.A. and M.A. under the National University’s merit rankings.

A native of the historic Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif in Chattogram, Dr. Rahman is the son of Moulana Mohammad Areful Hai, the current Sajjadah Nashin of the Darbar. Their over 200-year spiritual and social legacy includes work in education, irrigation, infrastructure, and rural development.

With more than 50 publications in Bangla, Arabic, English, Urdu, and Persian, Dr. Rahman is also active in humanitarian efforts, disaster relief, orphan care, and interfaith harmony. He continues to inspire through his religious scholarship and social initiatives both at home and abroad.
