After much resistance, this year's event of Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) started onMonday. However, the domestic tournament was temporarily postponed after just one round.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board was forced to postpone due to hostile weather. Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) member secretary Ali Hossain has confirmed to Cricfrenzy that DPL has been postponed.

“Game postponed for two days due to hostile weather. If the game starts from Thursday, it will commence from the second round” Ali said.

Earlier in the first round, the result came out from four out of six matches. Two matches had no result due to wet outfield. On Monday, Partex Sporting Club lost to Mushfiqur Rahim's Abahani Limited. Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Shinepukur Cricket Club, Gazi Group Cricketers lost to Prime Bank Cricket Club, while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club won over KhelaghorSamaj Kalyan Samiti.

The league, which was originally supposed to be in 50-over format, started on Monday in 20-over format after being suspended following just one round of matches due to the second wave of Covid-19. Out of a total of six matches, only four matches were finished on the opening day while the other two were abandoned due to rain.
