DPHE distributes safe water, purification tablet in Gopalganj

The people of the country are struggling to cope with the outbreak of the deadly corona (Covid-19) virus. Now, the low-lying areas of the country have been inundated by the sudden floods. 

The low-lying areas of almost all the districts of riverine Bangladesh have already been inundated by floods and various structures including fields, ghats and houses have been submerged.

Like other parts of the country, the lower reaches of different upazilas of Gopalganj have been submerged in the flood waters. 

Considering the plight of flood-affected people in Gopalganj, with the overall cooperation of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), under the direction of Goparganj Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana, two state-of-the-art water purification mobile water treatment plants in Tungipara and Sadar upazilas are providing safe drinking water to flood-affected people.

At the same time, water purification tablets are being distributed free of cost. The flood-hit Upazila Public Health Engineers are directly engaged in the field work to supervise this work. 

Pure drinking water has been provided to the people of Jangal Bazar and Dakshinpara areas of Nijra Union of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila through mobile water treatment plants in compliance with the health rules on Monday morning.

On behalf of Gopalganj district administration, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Monwar Hossain, Upazila Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department Ratan Kumar Saha personally distributed safe drinking water and water purification tablets among the flood affected people.
