The Department of Primary Education (DPE) has directed everyone involved in primary education to be inoculated against coronavirus by August 11, as a part of the moves for opening schools.

Moreover, it has asked the concerned bodies to send vaccination information to the department by August 12, the next day.

In this regard, DPE issued an office order on Wednesday. In that, DPE has directed the Divisional Director, District Education Officer, Upazila and Thana Education Officers, Superintendents of all PTIs, Upazila and Thana Resource Centres to send information.

The office order further said that lists of both the officers and employees, who have been vaccinated and those who have not been within the stipulated time, have been requested to be sent to the department by August 12.

DPE Director General AM Mansur Alam said, all the teachers will be vaccinated before the opening of the educational institution. For this reason, everyone has been instructed to take compulsory vaccination.

He said the district primary education officers have been instructed to know who is getting vaccinated, who is not and the situation after vaccination.

Earlier in February 9 this year, as a directive sent to the field officials, DPE instructed all government primary school teachers in the country to take Covid-19 vaccine when mass vaccination campaign began.

It said schools would be reopened once the coronavirus pandemic situation got better.

In addition, primary school teachers need to be vaccinated to stay free of the virus.
