Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) has taken a 12-day programme to provide instant mobile service for customers on the occasion of ‘Mujib Year’, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The 12-day instant service programme began on Thursday (March 18) and it will continue till March 30, DPDC officials said this at a press conference in the capital on Thursday.
This service will be provided one day in each of the 36 distribution zones of DPDC. Every day, three mini trucks will go door to door to deliver this service in three distribution zones.
DPDC Managing Director Engineer Bikash Dewan said the main objective of the service is to provide reliable and uninterrupted power service at the consumer’s doorstep. As a result, consumers will get their service instantly.
“DPDC is trying heart and soul to provide reliable power service since starting of the company. Currently DPDC is providing best service as a largest power distribution company. There has a lot of chance of consumer’s service with including new and latest technology,” he added.
It was informed at the conference that all kinds of services will be provided immediately in the mobile service. If people apply for a new connection, immediate action will be taken after checking and sorting the application. In some cases, if anyone has a complaint, it will be resolved. At the same time, there will be vending machines. People can recharge their prepaid meters from here if they want with electricity bill correction. Customers will also be made aware of power accidents through this mobile service.
Responding to a question from reporters about the reason for spending more money on pre-paid meters, Bikash Dewan said, "Due to the meters of different companies, there is a problem of cutting more money in many places. We are also working on cutting more money for pre-paid meters. We are moving towards smart meters, then this problem will no longer exist.”
Responding to another question on load shedding, the DPDC MD said, "There will be 1,900 MW of electricity this summer. So even in summer, load shedding will come to zero.”
DPDC is one of the largest power distribution companies in Bangladesh. It has around 14,43,776 consumers.
