Taking the opportunity of closure of all educational institutions for a long time due to Corona virus pandemic, paddy is being cultivated on the playground of Chandanchahat Alhaj Imar Uddin Dakhil Madrasa at Chandanhat under Nekmarad union of Rani Shankail upazila of Thakurgaon.
Guardians of the students and the local people, however, alleged such cultivation of paddy on the play ground of the Madrasa will hamper the educational environment as well as the scope of playing of the students of the institution. They have demanded to bring back the sports facility of the students. Superintendent of the Madrasa Momtaz Ali and the President of the Madrasa Governing body are learnt to involve with such activities.
Guardian Abdul Kader said the educational institutions are closed for more than one and a half-year. The students are failing to visit their institutions due to Corona pandemic. Taking the opportunity of the closure of the institution, cultivation of paddy on the play ground of the Madrasa can never be justifiable. Such an activity is hampering the educational environment and the opportunity of sports of the students.
Momtaz Ali, Superintendent of Chandanchahat Alhaj Imar Uddin Dakhil Madrasha informed the Madrasa was established in 1995. From then the Madrasa is being operated with the assistance from the local people. The teachers and staff of the Madrasa do not get their salaries regularly. As the Madrasa remains closed due to Corona virus pandemic, the staff of the Madrasa sought permission from him to cultivate paddy on the play ground of the Madrasa and he also permitted them to cultivate paddy there for an interim period.
Now, the Madrasa being closed, no student arrives at the Madrasa or play on the playground of the Madrasa.
President of Madrasha Governing Body Anowar Hossain said since the Madrasha has not been included under the MPO from the ministry and the Madrasha remains closed due to Corona pandemic, staff of the Madrasha has cultivated paddy on the play ground of the Madrasha.
Sohel Sultan Julkarnine, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Ranishankail upazila informed, there is no scope of cultivating paddy on the play ground of an educational institution. The playground should be kept open for the students. He further said, he would call the Superintendent of the Madrasha and take proper action in this connection.
