Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists to create mass awareness so that the anti-liberation forces, killers and Razakars never come to power. While addressing the 30th national council of the BCL at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the city on Tuesday. Sheikh Hasina, also the President of ruling Awami League (AL), asked them to give befitting reply to propaganda against the party on social media

They must pay heed to Sheikh Hasina in order to build themselves as perfect leaders moving forward with sacrificing mind leaving personal interest and greed and contribute immensely to the development of the country. In the wake of various conspiracies like spreading fake news or rumour and anti-state statements by the BNP-Jammat clique, her (Sheikh Hasina) statement was much needed right now.

During military dictators Ziaur Rahman and HM Ershad and BNP-Jamaat rule, their student wings-- Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Islami Chhatra Shibir and Jatiya Chhatra Samaj had let loose a reign of terror across campuses of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong and Jahangirnagar universities and all government and non-government colleges in the country between 1975 and 1996 and between 2001 and 2008.

BCL must refrain from all sorts

of wrong doing and follow the

prime minister’s advice in order

 stayon theright track

Country higher educational institutions had witnessed the jingle of arms and bombs as both military dictators Ziaur Rahman and HM Ershad and anti-liberation forces Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leaders handed over arms, sharp weapons and bombs to the students to establish supremacy on campuses.

We have not forgotten the grisly incidents of JCD’s factional clashes and barbaric attacks on BCL men on the campuses of universities and colleges that destroyed academic activities. Besides, Shibir activists continued cutting the tendons of both legs and the left hand of many pro-liberation minded students especially BCL activists across the country.

It was a regular happening during that period but media especially national dailies did not cover those incidents broadly as they were fully controlled by the then autocratic rulers. But if BCL does tiny mistake, newspapers and private television channels publish big news as they (media) are enjoying full freedom of speech now.

BCL must refrain from all sorts of wrong doing and follow the prime minister’s advice in order stay on the right track. Besides, they have to remain careful so that the anti-liberation forces, killers and Razakars, militants, the August 21 grenade attackers, arms smugglers and those who embezzled orphans’ money cannot return to power and play ducks and drakes with the fate of the people.
